Day 5 of our vacation-
Today we set out on a
Nature walk. It was lots of fun and I am so glad we had a guide for our very first trip into the Smoky's. She started out with a game. Caleb of course volunteered immediately!

After the game we set off on our walk.

We stopped to look for salamanders. Did you know that if you took all of the salamanders in the Smoky's and all of the bears in the Smoky's and weighed them, the salamanders would outweigh the bears. AND there are 3 bears per every square mile in the National Park.

They were able to catch a salamander and Caleb was first to volunteer to hold it.

The kids got to feel some very soft moss that covered a rock.

Snail!

Josh, the tree hugger. :)

If you could see me...I would be very carefully avoiding all the poison ivy!

Every few feet Hannah would stop and say, "LOOK, I found something!"

This is what she found this time

Snack break

This is a bear track. That set Caleb off on a whole new conversation with our guide. He talked her ear off. The conversation turned to bears and if we would see a bear. No shock when the guide said we wouldn't see one because we were too loud. LOL

Our feeble attempt at a family picture. Caleb was being goofy and Hannah kept running off.

Check out how beautiful this is
