Day 883

This is going to be a long 2-event post. Today was Samantha's first soccer game AND Caleb's 1st celebration of his birthday.

I will start with Samantha's soccer game, since it was first. The girls voted for the team name to be the Pink Panthers. This of course set off a Pink Panther cartoon marathon the rest of the weekend. Samantha is on a team that has played together before, but she is new. She wanted to stay with the same girls from last year, but they moved up to the 10-11 year old division. It is co-ed and I am not ready for her to play co-ed soccer yet. Of course given the name, Josh wants to take his saxophone to the game and play the Pink Panther theme song. Maybe some day.... The game was great! Samantha played very well and had some awesome defense plays.  The girls won 3-0. It was not without incident though. There was a certain child...not naming any names, but this child took a little soccer ball out on the field. She used it like a pillow and decided to watch the game from there. I did not notice this until the game was "paused" to get her off the field, which took a while because she was near the goalie and I was at mid-field. She said as I was picking her up that she wanted to take a nap there. There was also this crazy man running up and down the field...on both sides. It was very odd, yet kind of funny. It got old after a while. When he said something to our goalie our coach spoke to the ref. This guy went all nuts. He said his family in his country created soccer. He was told he had to stay on his side of the sidelines and not talk to the girls. Later something went on between him and a few parents on the other side. The ref called in help while the game was going on and he was removed. According to the email that was sent out later, he had some sort of medical issue going on. His family was called to come and pick him up.

Here are the girls waiting for the game to start.

Samantha is in the middle of the photo.

This is what Caleb and Hannah did for part of the game. This was AFTER the nap incident!

I really like this picture of her!
This photo explains the large number of bug bites on a certain little girl!
Why would I take a photo of a random yellow shirt? To find out CLICK HERE.

She thought she was being cool! You can't really tell, but she is trying to justify to me why it is ok for her to be standing on the table.

Part 2- Caleb's birthday celebration...part 1
Today my mom and brother came over. On birthdays my mom always cooks a dinner for the birthday child. Caleb picked hot dogs...really! He got hot dogs, the rest of us had hamburgers. He also wanted pumpkin pie for his dessert. I do want to point out that my kids are dirty! I am aware, but sometimes you just gotta let them be and take photos. We did after all have a soccer game. After we got home we played some football, soccer, AND baseball outside. I am sure I was just as dirty as they were! We did have fun though!

Here is Caleb waiting for his dinner.

Samantha is not thrilled about his pumpkin pie choice.

I LOVE his smile!!!!
Caleb is cracking up laughing of embarrassment while we sing Happy Birthday.
Make a wish!
Caleb opened his gifts from his Meema and Uncle Donnie.

Day 721

Tonight was our last of Josh's birthday celebrations. We had dinner with Grandpa and Mimi at the Cheesecake Factory. I think I was pregnant with Caleb the last time we were there! It was nice, but cold...we were sitting under an air vent. I wasn't originally going to include the first picture, but it makes me laugh! I love my boys.
Here is Josh with his birthday cheesecake. The plate says, "Happy Birthday Joshua" written in chocolate.
This was as we were leaving the kids thought it looked like the lights were sitting on top of the water...it was a reflection. They thought it was just too cool!
I stay can't believe my baby is 11! He went from a big lopsided head baby, to a huge lump, to a tall young man. He is smart beyond belief...I call him a little sponge. He has a heart for God. He hurts when others are hurting. God has great things in store for my Joshy! I love him so much!

Day 718

Some of you remember that Josh already got his main birthday gift, but he still got to have a little family party. He does not like cake and I saw on facebook that my friend made a brownie cake....so I copied her! Oh my goodness....it was a brownie lovers dream! After cake Josh opened up small gifts from his siblings. I also picked him up something small. He also got to open up a gift from Meema and Uncle Donnie. He had a great birthday! Did I mention the cake was sooooo good??? The only thing missing were the corner pieces---those are my favorite!

Day 614

Today is a two parter! This is from Friday 1/15

It is Samantha's 9th birthday. We also went downtown to pick up our race packets and hang out at the expo for a while. The kids always have a blast getting lots of free stuff. Josh even won 2 tickets to the hockey game!

Here are Josh and Samantha with their packets.
Caleb is taking care of Marc's packet

It didn't last long...they weighed down the stroller.
Love this girl!
Hannah wanted to play a football game
She won these bandanas LOL
Samantha rocked it and ended up winning the toy car.
It was a cold and rainy day, but the kids wanted to go to the Chase Bank Tower observation floor. It was a LONG cold wet walk, but we did it anyway! They had a blast looking out at everything...I preferred to stay a safe distance back LOL

Happy birthday to Samantha!!! Why is there a 2 candle??? Because I forgot to buy more candles, so we used a two and 7 ones. LOL It worked!
She got to open her gifts from us.

She got a new outfit.

Day 611

Today was a Tuesday, so Marc was off. He really wanted to take Hannah to the zoo while it was cool and not so crowded. You know how Houston summers are...even the animals don't want to be out in the summer. It was fun! There was hardly anyone there either, so that was a plus. Hannah had fun walking around checking out all the animals. There was a lion cub that recently came from another zoo and it was kind of frisky. It would find the smallest kid in the crowd and lunge at the window at it. For a while that was Hannah. It would follow her as she walked and do that funky move you see normal cats do before they pounce. The zookeeper said that by the way the ears and tail were that the cat was NOT playing....it wanted lunch. Well, Hannah was not going to be that lions lunch...it lost interest after a group full of stroller pushing mom's came by. Easier prey I guess. Here are some photos of miss Hannah.

Later that night we had dinner with my dad and Janie to celebrate Samantha's 9th birthday. It was a good time. She got ice cream and a princess barbie set! What more could a girl want???
